ON THE 7TH DAY, REX RESTED

SG Keeps the Sabbath Holy, May Watch Football

(Orlando) As Spurious George approaches its first (and let’s be honest, probably last) anniversary of Educating the Hippies©, preparations must be made for a proper celebration of the milestone. Sundays, of course, are the perfect day for making preparations…but not necessarily for accomplishing anything of real substance. Today we’ll be tinkering around the office a bit; cleaning up some dead links, adding some new ones (suggest some that merit Rex’s attention in the comment section, and yes, you may whore your own,) and, of course, watching some football. Normally the entire SG staff would be in church all day, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on a one-game winning streak, so we’re sure Jesus would understand.

That said, those visiting SG today and breathlessly praying for pearls of patriotic prose, much like those hoping for a Democratic landslide this November, will be deeply disappointed. Rest assured, however, that we’ll be back tomorrow (hangovers willing) with fresh, freedom-favoring goodness!

Note: SG’s anniversary is October 31st: I’m told that the traditional gift is a sizeable donation to your local Republican Congressperson’s election campaign!

My entire paycheck is on its way to the Katherine Harris campaign in your honor. It should buy a few buttons, and maybe, if they're thrifty enough, a couple of miniature flags. Her victory is practically in the bag.

Rex, I'm surprised at you. You seem to think that watching football is optional on Sundays.

During Autumn, it's not enough to go to church. If you're not giving our Pigskin Gladiators their due, you're not keeping the Sabbath holy.

Laurie: God bless you! "Kat" Harris, a personal friend of Spurious George, will certainly be grateful for your donation...although she does reserve the right to withdraw it from her campaign fund for the purpose of re-decorating her home (as she has in the past.)

Gordo: Usually, as a Southern gentleman I am drawn only to Saturday (college) football, and thus am free to give Jesus my undivided attention of Sunday. However, my beloved alma mater (U of Florida) was off yesterday, and a man has (football) needs!

Am I to understand you could possibly believe Tampa has a chance against my mighty Bears?? Hillary has a better chance at winning in '08.

Btw, nice win today.

Rex it pains me terribly to point this out - but the 'Buddy Jesus' was up on my 'hippie blog' about a hundred years ago, at time I believe I was campaigning for equal race representation and 'My Pal Mary' figures...

the white middle class representation just won't work anymore.... oh wait! unless you're a republican!
